Hello Friends of Badger Men's Tennis,

We are very excited to host Butler and Denver this weekend to wrap up our long home slate.  If you have not had a chance to check out your Badgers, the next time we will be at home will be the weekend of April 4-6--so don't miss this opportunity!

    --Friday, 2/23, 3pm vs Butler
    --Sunday, 2/25 10:30am vs Denver

Michael Minasyan continues his stellar play this spring with a win against the #30 ranked singles player in the nation--Planinsek of Alabama.  We hope to have one player come off the injured list this weekend which would be a nice boost for the guys.  Check our social pages for updates, live scoring, and live streaming for those following from home.  We appreciate all the support and the guys are ready to battle once again this weekend.

    On, Wisconsin!

    Hello Badger Men's Tennis Supporters,

Sunday, 2/11 at Noon vs #21 Alabama!

On Sunday we have a very unique opportunity for fans to enjoy BOTH the Men's and Women's Teams compete at the SAME TIME!  Our Women's Team will play Notre Dame at Noon as well and all 12 courts at Nielsen will be used.  Would love your support this upcoming weekend and enjoy the simultaneous Men's and Women's match this Sunday.

    Homecoming for a Badger:

Fans may recognize a member of the Alabama Coaching Staff as UW graduate Sebastian Vile was recently hired as a Graduate Assistant Coach.  We are excited to have "Sebo" back home for a weekend.

Hope all of you are doing great and, as always, thank you for your continued support.

Forwarded email from Coach Danny Westerman

Hello Friends of Badger Men's Tennis,

Your Badgers are off to tough start so far this season.  The injury bug has taken a big bite out of our lineup this early this season.  Unfortunately, we are missing three starters from last year's season that all were projected to play in the top 4 in our lineup.  On the flip side, our large freshman class is getting valuable playing time and competing extremely hard these last couple weeks.  Another bright spot has been the development of Sophomore Michael Minasyan.  Mikey played number #6 singles the majority of last season and has taken on the challenge to play at the top of lineup this spring.  He is 3-1 on the season with a win at #1 versus a tough Old Dominion team.

This weekend we host a pair of Pac-12 teams that will become full time Big Ten conference members next season in Washington and Oregon.

    • Friday, 2/2 vs Washington at 530pm
    • Sunday, 2/4 vs Oregon at 11am

Thanks to our fans for coming out and supporting our players.  You all really make a difference.  Last week, we had a great crowd in a very exciting match versus Notre Dame.  This weekend will be very similar with two tough opponents.

Hope to see you out at Nielsen and as always, thank you for your support.

    On, Wisconsin!

The Midwest Youth Team Tennis Program will be going on again this winter at the Nielsen. This program is completely reliant on volunteers to help instruct kids from 5-14 years old. Last winter the program had 153 kids and we're expecting an even bigger turnout this year.

When: 3:30pm-6pm on Saturdays and 1 Sunday from January -March (dates listed on flyer) IMG_20231109_175841_383.jpg

    Where: Nielsen Tennis Stadium

Why Volunteer: On top of helping inspire the next generation of tennis stars: Volunteers are paid for each session they attend. Also free food is provided for all volunteers after each lesson.

If you haven't ever taught tennis before: That's fine. We have many experienced volunteers who can show you the ropes.

You don't have to make all the lessons. Even making 1 session helps the program.

The GMTA is sponsoring its first USTA junior tournament. For a long time, juniors have needed to travel far outside Madison to enter USTA tournaments so we wanted to support this locally. We are starting with a level 6 boys 14's and 16's singles tournament that would be great for intermediate to advanced juniors looking to get tournament experience with hopes to play high school tennis. We look forward to expanding next year to include girls.

The tournament will run July 29-30 at the La Follette high school tennis courts. Registration closes July 24.
