In an attempt to improve this vital GMTA program, we are asking both past, present, and future participants to take a brief moment to fill out this very short survey.
Summer Team Tennis is a decades old program serving juniors players in the Madison area. This program has been an integral stepping stone for young players in their competitive tennis skill development. GMTA Summer Team Tennis has given beginning competitive players the initial experience necessary to reach the highest levels in WIAA State competition and beyond.
Summer Team Tennis is a seven week program designed for boys and girls, 18 years of age and younger. This is a competitive program only. Players must know how to play tennis and score. However, players are matched up with opponents by ability/experience level for the best competitive play possible.
The program begins the first Tuesday after all schools are released for summer break (early-mid June). Sessions meet two days a week except for the last week, which is the season ending 3-day individual tournament (depending on enrollment). The current schedule has each session starting at 6:30 AM an ending at 8:00 AM. Tuesdays have been a practice or rain make-up match day and Thursdays have been match days. The individual tournament takes place on the last week with medals going to top finishers. Transportation to away matches (once per week) is provided by the parents. Parents are expected to help out with transportation at least once during the program's duration. Some sites do not have readily available water sources, so players are responsible for bringing their own container with water.
